My Body Is Beautiful

Columbia Non-Profit Reaches Out of Girls to Prevent Unhealthy Body Image

Magazines, television, music videos: these can all be sources of images and pressures that lead young girls to strive for whats unrealistic and unnecessary when it comes to their weight and looks.

Friends and even family can also send the wrong messages that tempt them to try unhealthy diets, develop eating disorders and inappropriate choices in clothes.

Rainbow House in Columbia is starting a series of classes designed to stop body-image and self-esteem problems in young girls before they start. My Body s Beautiful classes will be Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 from February 15th through March 7th.

Andrea Shaw and Megan Julius from Rainbow House joined me for this weeks Clear View to talk about that.

This Clear View aired originally on January 29th on KCLR (Clear 99) FM in Mid-Missouri.
